Salary:
£28400 plus good staff benefits


We are very pleased to be working alongside our established educational based client as they seek to recruit a Finance Manager on a full time permanent, year round basis.

The role:


To assist in the provision of consistent, efficient and effective operations of all financial matters, systems and processes, ensuring the organisation achieves its stated aims and objectives.

To achieve a high level of financial control and ensure thatfinancial regulations and best practice are followed at all times.

Actively contribute to the review and development financial processes and systems.

Responsible for financial planning and in relation to business and support services, including the financial implications of delivery the accountability plan, ensuring resourcesare used effectively and efficiently.


Accountable for accurate and timely processing of daily transactions, debtors and creditor management, payroll processing and monthly reconciliation of accounts.

To promote best value purchasing at all times.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


To provide efficient and effective day to day management of the finance office including invoice processing, bank reconciliations, sales income, record management and general accounting housekeeping.


Responsible for maintaining accurate and tidy accounts processing expenditure and income ensuring reporting is accurate, preparing reports for presentation and analysis as required.

Maintain and oversee the bank account(s) and accounting system, completing monthly reconciliations, reporting errors / concerns as required.

To lead on ordering processes, ensuring a complete, accurate and tidy purchase order system

To work collaboratively with the wider leadership team in the production of the annual budget

To work collaboratively with wider leadership team in the monitoring of annual income and expenditure, supporting forecasting and reporting.

To develop and maintain systems which inform staff of all financial matters relevant to their roles.


To work collaboratively with the wider leadership team in the planning, development, implementation and monitoring of the budget, supporting the consistent and ongoing review of priorities as required.

To generate and co-ordinate new income streams

Support the financial audit processes

Responsible for the timely preparation and implementation of year-end procedures including the preparation of accounts / reporting as required.

To support and review all financial and Business transactions ensuring compliance in accordance with financial regulations

To provide direct line management to the finance team.

Contribute to the development of training programmes / learning opportunities and mentoring for staff

Take a lead role in planning, developing and monitoring new and existing financial strategies, systems, procedures and policies e.g. Procurement and Best Value etc.

To work constructively as part of a team delivering a flexible administrative and financial service, creating, and managing financial spreadsheets, report writing and managing complex project specific financial tasks

Analyse and evaluate data and produce reports/information for presentation.


PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications and Knowledge
Appropriate financial qualifications working at or towards Level 5 (DSBM/AAT/CIPFA) or significant experience in a educational finance environment.

Evidence of finance, business and administrative and management experience to support the day-to-day operation Excellent working knowledge of ICT/Finance systems procedures

Excellent knowledge of Financial Regulations, Policy and Procedures


Experience
Significant experience of working in an administrative / managerial role, preferably within an educational establishment but this is not essential

Experience of financial systems, financial regulations, credit control and budget management.

Experience of financial processes including budget monitoring, financial record keeping and income generation Experience in managing suppliers and contractors


Skills and Experience required:

Excellent literacy and numeracy skills in order to understand complex written instructions, budget monitoring and financial processes

Ability to present data clearly, concisely, accurately and in ways that promote understanding, either verbally or in written/electronic form

Ability to interpret complex information to produce informative financial documents with limited guidance.

Also the ability to organise, plan and meet deadlines e.g. for VAT returns, project organisation

Proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

An ability to maintain focus at times of unforeseen difficulty and uncertainty

Strong organisational skills/business administrative skills

Proactive to review and develop financial processes and work-flows

High level of ICT skills, including MS Office and management information systems

Strong interpersonal skills

Ability to work co-operatively as a team member, whilst also working on own initiative

Ability to maintain confidentiality
