We have a vacancy in our well established team for a passionate midwife to lead our diabetic team.


The midwife will be based at Chelsea and WestminDocumentsster Hospital and will also work with the multidisciplinary diabetes in pregnancy team both in both face to face and virtual settings.


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Specialist Midwifery team at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital as the Lead Midwife for the diabetic service.


The successful postholder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide a high standard of personalised and evidence based care to women with pre-existing and gestational diabetes throughout pregnancy.


Key components of the role are the running of both face to face and virtual clinics, diabetes app management, education for staff and women to support positive pregnancy experiences and optimum health, care pathway navigation, care planning for pregnancy, labour and birth and MDT presentations.


Applicants are expected to have experience in working within specialist midwifery, and should be able to evidence in depth knowledge and skills surrounding care of women affected by pre-existing/gestational diabetes.

  • Provide specialist midwifery support to for the diabetes in pregnancy service
  • Be an autonomous practitioner within the team, being responsible for clinical care as appropriate and for delivering on specific recruitment targets within an agreed timescale.
  • Be responsible for identifying and explaining the GDm-Health app to eligible women ensuring that use is monitored using the dashboard in the virtual setting.
  • Organise follow up visits and triaging the women who are onboarded onto the GDMhealth app
  • Refer as appropriate any women to the multidisciplinary team
  • Assist with review of the women with diabetes in pregnancy in the clinical areas
  • Comply with Departmental and Trust(s) Policies regarding conduct and performance
  • Any other duties as may be deemed reasonable by the line manager
