The Role
Arup is highly collaborative and creative, with expertise and excellence shared worldwide. Arup University hosts 58 dedicated Global Skill Networks. These networks are open to all members (our employees) globally within Arup.

The leaders of these networks bring together communities of talented and enthusiastic members to share knowledge, tools, and techniques and to drive forward the transformation of their domains.

At Arup, skills are critical to building and enhancing our current and future capability and our Skill Leaders are critical in leading and enabling world class networks on behalf of the firm.

These unique communities share knowledge and technical expertise, push boundaries, experiment, and inspire each other in their work.

This ensures that our clients have access to the most up to date and diverse experience and capabilities across the firm.


We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced learning leader to drive and develop the learning agenda within these skills-based communities to upskill and reskill approximately 18000 experts to excel in their professional practice and support our strategy and plans.

They will be responsible for evaluating and developing transformational learning that is innovative and impactful to fully support our members and enable them to deliver technical excellence in everything they do.


Each Skills Network is responsible for developing capability and building deep expertise in their membership aligned to a Skills Transformation Plan.


You will be in the learning faculty leadership team; but partnering full time with the Skills Faculty in your day to day work.


You will make an impact in this role by:

  • Delivering a Skills Networks learning strategy in partnership with your key client, the Skills Faculty, that underpins Arup purpose, delivering excellence and transformational outcomes for Arup's members.
  • Taking responsibility for the full cycle learning programme management including definition of capabilities, diagnosis, design, delivery of learning projects and evaluation; relying on the learning professionals within Arup University to succeed in your work.
  • Leading 58 Global Skills Leaders to identify, create and implement formal learning solutions and informal activities for their community of experts in line with their Skills Transformation Plans.
  • Work with professional institutions to establish quality learning provisions to enable external recognition of professional excellence for our members: including routes to establish chartership or required technical qualifications or certifications.

If so, you will have:


  • A curious learning mindset, and will thrive in a dynamic fast paced working environment, dealing with very senior stakeholders in multiple locations around the world
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver success when working across all aspects of the learning cycle (e.g. needs analysis, design & development, delivery, assessment & evaluation)
  • Evidence of delivering innovation in learning solutions that create real value in projects delivered to clients; comfortable across broad range of solution typologoies.
  • Project management experience and skills, including planning, stakeholder management, task management and communications.
  • Ability to develop and present coherent ideas with confidence, inspiration and gravitas, creating engagement.
  • A strong data driven approach to learning.
  • Strong technical aptitude with willingness to learn and work with emerging technologies.


The role is based in our London office, with a requirement to attend our offices a minimum of 3 days per week.
