Job description- Research activity within the School of Pharmacy is organised into five key themes, reflecting our research strengths: Nanomedicine and Biotherapeutics, Pharmaceutical Materials Science and Formulation, Drug Delivery and Biomaterials, Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance, Healthcare Delivery and Medicines Optimisation. These themes allow us to lead on addressing societal challenges; be responsive to the UN Sustainable Development Goals; map to the on-going priorities of major funders and ensure a strong contribution to both AMIC and iREACH as part of the Belfast Region City Deal.- Over the course of the next 3 years, the strategic ambitions of the School of Pharmacy will ensure we continue to achieve excellence in research. These include the establishment of the Centre for Advanced Technologies in Healthcare (CATcH).- As we advance these ambitions, we have a fixed-term opportunity in the field of biomaterials. This area continues to grow in importance in the healthcare sector.- The School welcomes applicants from diverse academic backgrounds and encourages new thematic areas of collaboration and funding which build upon existing areas of strength.- Honours degree or equivalent in biological or pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacy or a closely related discipline.

  • PhD or equivalent in an area relevant to the job purpose.
  • High academic standing with a reputation in research in a relevant field since obtaining PhD.
  • Recent, relevant publications in peer reviewed/refereed journals that are recognised internationally as being high quality, commensurate with experience.
  • Distinctive research profile in biomaterials to include in vitro biological evaluation, cellbased assays, and/or microbiological assays.
  • Experience in relevant techniques and up to date on emerging trends.
  • Experience of developing research methodologies, models, approaches, and techniques.
  • Experience of presentations at national and international meetings and conferences.
  • Teaching experience relevant to the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate degree students in pharmaceutical science commensurate with stage of career.
