We are looking for a talented Digital Content Editor to join the ELIXIR Hub, which coordinates ELIXIR, the European data infrastructure for life science.


As the Digital Content Editor you will also work collaboratively with ELIXIR members across Europe, which will include working with bioinformaticians, data scientists, project coordinators and other stakeholders.

Your role


Content development:

Create and edit text on the ELIXIR-managed websites.

Work with stakeholders across ELIXIR to develop the content of these sites, and advise them on the best way to present the information.

Conduct content audits to ensure information on the websites is accurate and consistent.
Integrate multimedia elements, such as images, videos, and interactive tools, to enhance the website's visual appeal and functionality.
Develop the website style guide.
Ensure that content is in line with ELIXIR's branding, messaging, and communication strategy.


User engagement:

Solicit feedback on the ELIXIR websites and work with stakeholders to improve the sites in response to feedback.
Implement best practices for SEO and user experience (UX).
Analyse website traffic and user behaviour to identify opportunities for improvement and engagement.

Knowledge and experience

Experience of writing and editing for the web.
The ability to extract key information from technical and scientific materials and transform it into accessible web content.
Experience of planning web content and designing user interfaces following UX best practices.


Awareness of the legal aspects of website development: GDPR and accessibility (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines - WCAG).
Familiarity with working with style guides.


Awareness of content strategy:
approaches to auditing, planning, creating, maintaining and unpublishing content.
Knowledge of web analytics and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).

Personal Attributes

Good communication skills in spoken and written English.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent interpersonal skills.

Experience in consulting with project stakeholders with different backgrounds to arrive at solutions agreeable to as many people as possible.

Ability to articulate ideas and vision to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Self-motivated with a strong sense of service delivery.

This will be a busy role with frequently changing priorities so it is critical that the role

- holder is able to:

Set objectives and plan work independently based on agreed outcomes.
Meet deadlines and manage priorities to handle a heavy workload.
Work accurately and with attention to detail.
Occasionally work outside normal office hours and with international travel as required.

You might also have

Some competence with design packages such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
Knowledge of HTML.
Experience of working in academia or a research infrastructure.
A background in, or interest in, life science or bioinformatics.
