Yorkshire Water's Strategic Sourcing and Commercial Excellence functions are provided by Efficio, the world's largest Procurement Consultancy.

This Managed Procurement Service (MPS) is a long-term provision aiming to deliver £60m+ savings to Yorkshire Water over the current AMP period and increase the performance of the Commercial function.

We provide the MPS through a blend of consulting resource and core team members who are dedicated to the Yorkshire Water account.

Role Summary:


To lead a portfolio of strategic cost down / improvement projects to deliver superior outcomes in terms of value delivery, delivery on time and client satisfaction.

To negotiate supply contracts in line with market best practice, in compliance with UK Contracts Regulations, which deliver optimum value to the business.


Key Responsibilities:

Sourcing Projects:

  • Lead strategy development for specific sourcing categories as allocated by the MPS management team (these may be for works, assets, services or a combination)
  • Undertake sourcing / value delivery projects with full client stakeholder engagement and follow the MPS sourcing methodology
  • Ensure that sourcing / value delivery projects are delivered to conclusion, on time and fulfilling client expectations
  • Recognise synergies with other areas of spend and incorporate these, where appropriate
  • Create compelling sourcing / value delivery strategies which challenge current ways of working and deliver best value to Yorkshire Water
  • Draft and negotiate contract documentation, with support from Legal
  • Work with business and commercial stakeholders to effectively handover the project for transition and implementation, focussed on minimising risk and ensuring that expected benefits are embedded for incontract management
  • Manage and work alongside supporting team members, e.g. analysts

Stakeholder Management:

  • Implement stakeholder engagement plans at a project level, and participate in category / business level stakeholder engagement plans with clear objectives and measurable outcomes
  • Manage a complex stakeholder environment across multiple individuals and organisations

Communication:

  • Create wellstructured documents and presentations
  • Take responsibility for the development and refinement of core sourcing documentation
  • Interactively tailor the depth of communicated information for specific audiences and situations

Data Analytics:

  • Ability to run a dataled sourcing process, with a the ability to utilise varies methods to draw relevant conclusions within the available timeframe
  • Efficiently manage spend and information gathering process by working with internal people, suppliers and third parties (e.g. research agencies)
  • Identify key insightful and compelling findings in order to prepare a comprehensive category profile

Negotiation:

  • Independently lead complex and sometimes challenging negotiations
  • Think creatively about variables that can be traded to optimise the outcome for MPS and Yorkshire Water as part of a full negotiation plan/strategy

Account Development / Firm Building:

  • Seek to identify opportunities to improve our service to Yorkshire Water through being open, inquisitive, and engaged across client teams
  • Drive continuous improvement in process, policy and ways of working to the benefit of Efficio and Yorkshire Water

Essential Requirements

  • Must Have:
  • Experience of strategic sourcing in a multistakeholder and multisite environment
  • Excellent and demonstrable strategic sourcing skills proficient in all aspects of the 'Strategic Sourcing Cycle'
  • Can demonstrate an ability to think creatively to deliver optimal commercial and noncommercial outcomes with challenging sourcing projects
  • Ability to draft sections of legal documents with high levels of accuracy
  • Good stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills
  • Ability to build strong working teams across functions
  • Excellent commercial awareness and hunger for best value
  • Handles complex analysis well
  • Selfstarter, resilient and tenacious under pressure
  • Good educational achievement to Degree level
  • Keen analytical mind and excellent Excel and Powerpoint skills

Desirable Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Utilities Contract Regulations
  • Prior Utility sector experience
