Citizens Advice Mid Mercia is pleased to collaboratively work with
Joined Up Care Derbyshire to deliver a new pilot service for 12 months (
Crisis Inreach) which will provide preventative care and support for people with a learning disability & autistic people (people with LD&/ASC) who are at imminent risk of: family or carer breakdown; harm to themselves or others; and/or inpatient admission.


The Crisis inreach Service would like to recruit 8 (4
Lead Crisis Workers and 4
Crisis Workers) enthusiastic, friendly, and capable Crisis Workers to provide support to people with a learning disability and/or autistic people in their daily lives and could include; helping to tidy and clean the home, provide basic care for any pets (such as feeding and walking), engage in home-based activities of interest (such as watching TV, reading, playing games, and so on), hold empathetic conversations and more.


The aim of this service is to provide crisis inreach support for people with LD&/ASC who, at any time, are at risk of otherwise being admitted to a mental health inpatient setting.


We are looking to recruit a diverse mix of male and females with various skillsets, backgrounds and languages so they can be matched as accurately as possible to individuals referred and their presenting needs.


The Crisis Worker will be part of an inclusive team empowered to provide non-clinical support that focuses on matters that are important to the service user by encouraging structured activity whilst ensuring they are kept safe and their wellbeing is improve.


About the role


The primary aim of the service is to 'sit' with service users to keep them safe and improve wellbeing whilst clinical teams mobilise and begin clinical support.

  • The crisis inreach service will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
  • Shifts will be across 12 hours (day 8.30am 8.30pm and night 8.38pm 8.30am).
  • Support will be provided in the family home, on a onetoone basis and tailored to the individual and their circumstances. (Driving licence and business insurance essential)
  • Salary
    £28,938
    p/a for Lead Crisis Worker and
    £26,754 p/a for Crisis Worker
  • Fixed term contract until end of August 2024 (possible extension depending on funding)

About you


Possession of good communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to adapt these for working with young people and their families to ensure a clear, sensitive and trustworthy person-centred service is essential.


Flexibility, patience and the awareness of the need for confidentiality, safeguarding, the ability to work in a team and take part in necessary training is important to this role in addition to being able to work collaboratively to meet the needs of service users.


You need to have a dedication and awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion and be able to meet the unique needs of the service users such as gender or culture whilst adapting to environments.
