I am recruiting for a strong Children's Home Manager to join a leading children's residential home and education provider, who offer excellent benefits.

This job will involve supporting the running of 9 small homes across Plymouth, who support young people with emotional behavioural difficulties.

This employer is looking for someone to join their team and to thrive in their service and will consider deputymangers or senior team leaders.


Key Responsibilities of a Children's Home Manager:

  • The Peripatetic Home Manger assumes responsibility and accountability for their own professional actions; exercises discretion in determining how objectives agreed with the Senior Service Manager are to be achieved.
  • Works autonomously within the overall framework of Company policies, procedures, and principles; adheres to professional codes of practice and terms and conditions of employment; and seeks out additional supervision and guidance as necessary in order tofulfil the requirements of the post.
  • At all times, the safety and welfare of the children and young people are paramount and must take priority over all other activities
  • You will be a frontline supervisor, supporting the manager to effectively manage a team of staff to deliver person centred, specialist services.
  • Will attend Senior Management and Management Team Meetings.
  • You will need to have a sound knowledge of personcentred planning, rota planning and staff management/development.
  • You will be a committed, flexible and enthusiastic team player who is able to coach and mentor a team of support workers.

Children's home Manager Requirements:


  • 3 years' experience managing a Children's Residential Service to a "good" or "outstanding" standard.
  • NVQ or QCF Level 5 in Leadership and Management (Children's Services)
  • NVQ Level 3 in Children's Residential Services
  • You must be a driver with a full UK licence and your own vehicle due to the nature of the role.
