An exciting opportunity has arisen on the GI Unit at St Thomas Hospital for a Band 3 Senior Nursing Assistant role.
We have an established team of highly skilled, patient focused and friendly multidisciplinary professionals.Our ethos is about mutual support and shared achievement, developing our staff and services to provide exemplary levels of care to our patients.
Carrying out assigned tasks as part of clinical team in support of registered nurses and to undertake some aspects of care provision without direct supervision.
Ensuring the safety and well being of services users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centered care principles.

The GI unit is a 56 bedded tertiary referral unit, consisting of both Page and Northumberland wards caring for complex and challenging surgical patients from a wide geographical area with a range of Gastro intestinal conditions.
We are looking to employ a hardworking, self-motivated individual preferably with extended skills and knowledge such as venepuncture and cannulation, basic wound care and ability to complete the admission assessments.
This role will allow you to develop and gain a wide range of additional clinical skills which will enhance your own personal development whist contributing to the high standard of care expected on the GI unit.

Knowledge of care and related procedures to areaClear and accurate written and verbal communication. Ability to undertake venipuncture
Proven ability to work within a team as well as on own initiative.
Able to listen effectively and demonstrate a sympathetic /sensitive approach, and be able to speak effectively to colleagues, staff and patients.
Proven ability to understand and comply with detailed procedures. Demonstrate ability to manage priorities under pressure.Proven ability to adapt to new ideas, knowledge and skills. Demonstrate ability to use own initiative and work without close supervision. Understanding of the requirements of patient confidentiality. Good hygiene skills (e.g. food handling, hand washing etc.)
