Description

Ecologist (Two posts)
The borough of Test Valley contains some of the most beautiful countryside in Southern England.

It stretches from the New Forest heritage area through the valley of the River Test to the North Wessex Downs ANOB.

Our busy and high-profile development management teams, within Planning and Building Services, help safeguard the borough's built and natural environment whilst supporting sustainable growth for the benefit of everyone that lives, works, or visits the area.

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join us; people with a passion for ecology and the environment, to contribute towards our development management services, as well as being involved in delivering the regeneration of Andover and Romsey town centres and supporting the development of new planning policies.

This is also a time when Test Valley Borough Council will need deal with new challenges, and identify opportunities, in response to the implementation of the Environment Act including requirements relating to development and Biodiversity Net Gain.

The posts will provide professional ecological advice to the Planning and Building Service, other council services, councillors, and members of the public.

The posts sit within the Landscape and Ecology team alongside the conservation and tree officers.

It is important that you have clear, concise written and verbal communication skills for consultation reports, with contact with the public and for appearances at planning committee and other meetings, as well as planning appeal inquiries, hearings, and prosecutions, where you would be the council's expert witness.

This role is an opportunity for you to show your skills, and share your fresh thinking, in a forward thinking and progressive organisation that is ready to help you make a positive impact.

In return you will receive a competitive salary, and a great place to work with enthusiastic and supportive colleagues. As well as this, we actively promote a good work/life balance, including 'agile' working. We encourage continuous learning and development and have a programme of events designed to support employee wellbeing.
