Description
At Swindon Borough Council, we want our town to be the best it can be. Our ambitious vision is supported by realistic transformation programmes, with the people of Swindon at their heart. Because that's who we're doing it for - the communities and businesses that make our town great. As part of the Council, you'll support a friendly local authority making decisions with real impact. It's all for better public services. Better processes. And a better quality of life, for everyone. Join us, and Swindon will be better with you.

We are looking for a highly organised, professional individual to join our successful Finance team, contributing to the effective delivery of the high quality customer service within the Money Management Team, ensuring that legal and financial requirements of Appointeeship and Deputyship are met.

Your next role

On a day-to-day basis, you will manage all financial aspects for an allocated caseload of adults who have been deemed to lack the mental capacity to manage their own financial affairs and property.

You will record management information on processed transactions using a purpose built in-house system, ensure that all benefit claims are submitted and maintained, arrange payment of outstanding invoices, investigate a wide range of queries, ensure that all client correspondence is kept organised and filed and attend meetings both internally and externally.

You will maintain direct contact with your allocated caseload and assist in dealing with enquiries from external and internal customers.

This is a remote and varied role and no two days are ever the same.

We are looking for a bright, forward-thinking and motivated individual who is able to work under pressure and with demanding deadlines.

You should have the ability to manage your own workload effectively ensuring that all matters are dealt with in a timely manner.

In return, you will receive on-going support and benefits as well as offering an exciting career plan with personal development opportunities.

To be successful in this role, you should be educated to GCSE level (grade A-C) or equivalent, have demonstrable administrative experience to include the use of Financial IT systems, be computer literate including MS Excel and MS Word and be able to confidently communicate with colleagues, customers and clients.

Previous experience in a similar role is preferred, but not essential.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act "for the effective performance of a customer-facing role").

Your next package

Please see our Rewards and Benefits offer for more details.

As an employee, you will receive a diverse and exciting environment in which to work, encouraging creativity and innovation whilst recognising the need to support ongoing personal development and a flexible work life balance.

For Swindon to thrive in the future, we need to lay the foundations now. It's why our regeneration and transformation programmes are already underway. So, you'll be joining us at an exciting time on our journey. We'll look to you to share your knowledge, influence decisions and drive real, positive change. With your contributions, we'll achieve our vision of a prosperous, re-vitalised Swindon together. And you'll be proud to say it was made better with you.

Please see our Vison and Values page for more details.

Your next steps

Potential applicants are sometimes put off if they don't meet 100% of the requirements.

We think individual experience, skills and passion make all the difference, so if you meet the majority of the criteria, we'd love to hear from you.
