Would you like to support developing and delivering change and enhancing services for children and families in North Somerset?

We are looking for an experienced individual who will support our aim of ensuring children, young people and their families are listened to and involved in decisions that affect them.

About the role


As someone with knowledge and experience of communications (especially digital), marketing and engagement work with children and young people, you will bring enthusiasm, creativity, and a strong track record of supporting children, young people and their families to have their voices heard.

This role is key in ensuring that communication activities are responsive to customers' preferred channels.


Working closely with Family Wellbeing team leaders, managers, North Somerset Council's Communications and Marketing Team and our partners, this post will encourage co-production of all marketing and communication development to deliver a "one stop shop," of support, via physical, virtual and outreach venues.


This is a 12-month, fixed term post and therefore, during the year, you will also be responsible for training Family Wellbeing officers to develop and deliver effective communications and engagement activities to ensure the approach is sustained.

Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

About you

  • You will hold or be working towards a relevant professional/technical qualification.
  • You will have well developed interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships and engage successfully with contacts and customers.
  • You will have experience of working flexibly within a team and across different areas of activity
  • You will have good numeracy, literacy, report writing, presentation and excellent IT skills including a strong knowledge of social media campaigns and are able to undertake effective research and present findings in a clear, concise format.
  • You will also be able to demonstrable experience of meeting service standards, targets and deadlines and have a good level of general IT skills and the ability to use appropriate specialist inhouse software packages.
