Description
We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic and caring volunteers to facilitate the community's Bereavement Help Points.

This exciting initiative, based on an established model used by hospices across the country, provides regular drop-in sessions for bereaved people to get together to support each other and collect information on local and national support organisations.

So what will you do?

  • Offering facetoface welcome and support to attendees at the Bereavement Help Points.
  • Distributing information/leaflets, signposting attendees to services/groups when appropriate.
  • Facilitating visitors to the group to share their experiences and support each other, encouraging supportive relationships.
  • Collecting and passing on information for evaluation purposes including attendance records, stock levels, and questionnaires.
  • Managing stock of leaflets.

Where are Help Points held?

  • Chester
  • Storyhouse (2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, 2:00 4:00 pm)
  • Ellesmere Port Library (2nd and 4th Thursday of the month pm)
  • Hospice (3rd Monday of the month 67.30pm)

How much time will it require?

  • Each session is 1.5 hours long, plus you should allow a little time for setting up/packing away.
  • You can choose to be on the volunteer rota at one venue or at multiple venues. Each venue will require attendance of at least two sessions a month.
  • There will also be initial training and induction, and a requirement to attend further training/meetings with BHP volunteers (2 sessions a year minimum, more if need arises)
Please contact Christine Ankers on for more information.
