About the role
Camblesforth Primary Academy is seeking to appoint a caring, flexible and knowledgeable Teaching Assistant to work across our school.

The role will be largely based in Early Years during the morning, over lunch time you will support the children in the lunch hall and on the playground, during the afternoon you will work across the Key Stages, supporting individual children on a one to one basis as well as teaching small groups of children, this will be supported and directed by the Class Teacher.

The hours for this role are 30 hours per week, these will be worked Monday - Friday, during the school term time.


Job requirements


We are looking for an efficient, enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills to provide support for pupils, the Teacher and school in order to raise standards of achievement for all pupils, ensuring children are ready for their next step of their education.

You will be approachable, calm, caring but firm.

Previous experience of working within a school is desirable and experience of working with Children with Special Educational Needs would be preferable but not essential as training can be provided.


You will:

  • Supervise and support pupils ensuring their safely and access to learning
  • Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual need
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
  • Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the Teacher
  • Encourage pupils to act independently as appropriate
  • Be aware of pupil problems, progress and achievements. Reporting these to the Teacher as agreed
  • Support the Teacher in managing pupil behaviour, reporting difficulties as appropriate.
  • Provide a flexible, personalised learning provision for individuals and small groups as identified by the Teacher.

A high standard of literacy and numeracy is essential for this post, as is the enthusiasm to help raise the achievement of students.

IT skills are also essential to this role.

You will need to be a team player, have excellent interpersonal skills and have high expectations for learning and behaviour.
