The Band 4 Psychology Assistant post offers an exciting opportunity to join an established Weight Management Service in which psychological perspectives and interventions are highly valued by the multidisciplinary team.
The MDT consists of other clinical psychology posts, Principle Clinical Psychologist/Team lead, Assistant Psychologists, Counsellors, Specialist Dietitians, Physicians and Therapy Assistant Practitioners.
The post is funded by the Healthy Weight Healthy Wales project.
This post offers a great opportunity to develop clinical skills in a specialist area delivering psychological services to adults living with obesity.
Assessment and intervention will be delivered by the post holder under the supervision of qualified Clinical Psychologists located in Weight Management Services.
Professional support and clinical supervision will be provided and opportunities for peer support are also available through the Clinical Health psychology speciality and wider psychology network.
The post holder will be responsible for:
- Undertaking psychological assessments and interventions
To support the clinical and consultation work of the Clinical Psychologists as directed by the appropriate Clinical Psychologist
To undertake psychological assessments as delegated by a qualified clinical psychologist
To undertake a range of skills-based or protocol-driven psychological therapeutic interventions as delegated by a qualified clinical psychologist
To assist in the development and co-facilitation of psychoeducation and nutrition based groups as required
To provide psychological guidance and support to carers and families of patients under clinical supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist
To support the qualified clinical psychologist in preparing material or psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions
To carry out such other duties as the qualified clinical supervisor may reasonably request
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
This post is fixed term until 31st March 2024 due to - meet the needs of the service
