McLaughlin & Harvey is one of the leading Building and Civil Engineering Contractors operating throughout the UK and Ireland.


We have a great opportunity for an experienced HR Graduate to join our current HR team initially on a 12 month fixed term contract.

The HR Graduate will work collaboratively and flexibly to deliver a high-quality HR service.

You will be working within a busy HR department supporting across the full employee lifecycle and providing general support to the HR department.

This will include providing first line support, answering telephone calls, managing queries and resolving issues by providing clear advice and guidance, referring more complex queries and issues to a HR Advisor.


This role will have a strong focus on learning and development working closely with relevant colleagues across the organisation to co-ordinate and organise training and development for employees.

Within the role of HR Graduate you will also be responsible for the following:

  • Administration and maintenance of the HR training database
  • Support learning and development activities by booking training courses, liaising with providers, arranging in house courses and ensuring the training database is maintained and monitored
  • Manage training records, ensuring attendance, certificates and qualifications are accurately recorded
  • Support the HR team to effectively and efficiently manage CITB grant claims to ensure maximisation of grant recovery
  • Supporting the HR team with the smoothrunning of the people management processes including, new starts, leavers, role changes, performance reviews and absence cases through our HR system
  • Timely and accurate maintenance of HR information and providing reports as requested
  • Provide appropriate and constructive support for employee queries
Graduate qualification in a relevant discipline

  • Strong focus on accuracy, attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Good communication skills and comfortable talking to a wide range of people
  • Friendly approach
  • Possess the ability to plan your own workload, work on your own initiative and meet deadlines
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft packages, particularly Word and Excel
