Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Psychology Assistant Practitioner to join a pilot service offering trauma-focused psychological interventions to those affected by substance misuse across Cardiff and the Vale.

The post if for a fixed term period of 2 years for 18.75 hours/2.5 days per week with potential for additional hours.

The successful applicant will join an exciting new pilot service offering matched, tiered trauma focused psychological interventions for clients on a new opiate substitute treatment called Buvidal (Long-acting buprenorphine).

Clients on Buvidal describe many benefits of the monthly injection, however some describe difficulties with resurfacing trauma/mental health difficulties that can impact on their recovery and well-being.

This Psychology led pilot service will aim to develop, deliver and evaluate tiered psychological interventions for this client group, drawing upon the evidence base (e.g. safety and stabilisation work, TF-CBT and EMDR).

The successful applicant will support the team in the development, delivery and evaluation of trauma-focused psychological interventions.

You will support the collection, interpretation and reporting of data collected throughout the pilot, with the aim of contributing to the evidence base.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to developing a service which enhances psychological understanding and care and to develop clinical, audit and research skills under the regular supervision of a clinical psychologist.

There are close links with the South Wales Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training Programme and the service encourages collaborative working with other statutory services as well as 3rdsector services.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
