Description

Coordinating the BIG Weekend is an immense task, and involves liaising with over 60 partners, organising over 70 events, managing all of this information on CNPA's website and coordinating a comprehensive communication and marketing strategy.


This year, the event is growing to cover a week-long period and piloting this new approach will require more support.

This internship is intended to deliver these outcomes while providing an excellent opportunity for practical work experience.

The main responsibilities of the role are outlined below:

  • Contact potential event providers with information about the BIG Weekend
  • Respond to enquiries and support event providers as needed
  • Maintain uptodate event information in the master spreadsheet
  • Create and edit event details on the website listings
  • Show initiative to identify and chase opportunities to raise awareness of the BIG Weekend
  • Manage art competition organisation, entries and voting
  • Work collaboratively on large documents following set procedures
  • Attend promotional events and talk to the public
  • Some site visits will be undertaken but the majority of the work is deskbased

Essential requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Confident and adept use of Microsoft Office software
  • Able to engage people positively and inspire support through written and verbal communication
  • An eye for detail in written text
  • Able to manage large data sheets in Excel
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude
  • Well organised with a systematic approach to work
  • Understanding and experience with Facebook and Twitter
  • Able to manage unexpected situations and use initiative to problem solve
  • Able to work closely as part of a team
  • Permission to work in the UK

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience working with WordPress websites
  • Experience with the main social media platforms as promotional tools
  • Experience creating and managing events on Eventbrite
