JOB PURPOSE:


The Supplier Quality department plays a key role working closely with engineering and purchasing (commodity teams) in the selection and approval of suppliers and manage supplier quality requirements covering new part introduction, process development and sign off to support the successful launch of new vehicles.

The Supplier Quality department also manages suppliers and quality for the complete life cycle of parts including supplier performance, problem solving, change management and continuous improvement.


To coordinate & manage all activities including complex problem solving with a cross functional team including R & D & Purchasing to ensure the design is feasible with the suppliers.

Working closely with them from conception to deliver the quality repeatably for production.

  • Lead, coach, support, and challenge suppliers to ensure the correct quality for the complete life cycle of delivered parts.
  • Ensure efficient and timely introduction of parts working as a strong crossfunctional commodity team.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Attend early design reviews capture latest processes & technologies. Challenge as required.
  • Manage lessons learnt activities with internal cross functional teams & to ensure robust closure.
  • Support PMST reviews with the commodity groups.
  • Work with Purchasing and R & D to ensure costs include all quality requirements and documentation.
  • Work with and manager suppliers from early maturity stages to ensure quality levels are known, achievable & understood.
  • Manage technical problem solving of complex issues within the Body & paint commodities.
  • Ability to use the network of knowledge internally & externally to solve issues.
  • Support Tool & part buyoff at suppliers when required.
  • Flexibility to travel and spend time working at suppliers.
  • Responsible to report the status of issues being worked on & to escalate to the relevant level.
  • Prepare slide packs to be presented in reviews, to all levels of the business.
  • Confirm & Challenge OPP from suppliers as required.
  • Work closely with internal and external electrical engineers & awareness of the impact to customers.
  • Expected to provide DMAIC based solutions and demonstrate data analysis skills including creating tracking documents.

Management Breadth:

  • Responsible for own time management.
  • Drive and influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve the company QCD objectives.
  • Selfmanagement. Prioritise activities across multiple suppliers and internal functions.
  • Responsible for working and delivering to programme management framework.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience of managing suppliers to deliver the quality requirements through the life cycle of a part.
  • Considerable experience in Automotive infotainment systems, including HVAC, Infotainment, Communications, Sat Nav, and general internal automotive switches.
  • Commensurate connections and wiring experience for low voltage automotive systems.
  • Proven experience of managing electrical suppliers to deliver the quality requirements through the life cycle of a part.
  • Knowledge of Quality tools and techniques.
  • Ability to work closely with cross functional team internally & externally.
  • Experienced and structured problem solver focusing on complex issues.
  • The ability to selfmanage and work under pressure to deliver and thrive in an everchanging and dynamic environment.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing infotainment and switchgear systems, and their issues and solutions.
  • Good knowledge of A class surfaces, injection moulding technologies and assembly techniques.
  • Proven ability to lead crossfunctional meetings internally & externally to define clear improvement action plans with PCA's in a timely manner.
  • High degree of numeracy and knowledge of statistical techniques including CMM data.
  • Awareness of new technologies.
  • Flexibility to work incremental hours at short notice, when necessary, to ensure that manufacturing and customer requirements can be achieved.
  • Able to travel at short notice within the UK or worldwide to Suppliers and other Aston Martin sites.
  • There will be a certain level of handling parts and assemblies for inspection and review at times during build phases and root cause analysis.
