Main Duties and Responsibilities

In class support:

- to provide administrative support and read learning materials
- help monitor production of student work and behaviour in all areas in the school
- help with the setting up of technology and educational tools

  • Locate materials in the classroom
  • To help identify children within the class setting

To provide support in work with students which is non-classroom based:

  • Support the client with navigation in and around the school and out on school trips
  • Support when working in different areas of the school including the Achievement Hub.
  • Support when observing students and have a knowledge of First aid
  • Provide visual/nonverbal information
  • Report any safeguarding concerns to the Learning Support Assistant
  • Provide sighted guide to the Learning Support Assistant as needed

Providing materials in accessible formats:

- type up handwritten or printed documents
- transfer electronic documents (such as from Publisher or PDFs) to accessible formats

  • Read out documents.
  • Look through materials with the Learning Support Assistant to decide what is needed.
- make audio-recordings of written documents as necessary
- help with the completion of written forms and/or that the formatting of those completed electronically are accurate
- provide descriptions of visual materials either orally or in writing
- provide additional administrative support necessary for the role
- any such other tasks that are deemed necessary and relevant to supporting Learning Support Assistant


About You

You will be able to demonstrate:
An in-depth understanding of visual impairment and its impact on a persons everyday working life, or be willing to learn and increase your knowledge in your own time

  • Have a valid Enhanced DBS and be able to provide proof (required) or be prepared to allow for one to be obtained before you start;
  • You will be able to demonstrate a high level of trust and integrity with a good understanding of confidentiality;
  • You will be Punctual, organised and reliable;
  • You will be resilient to work pressures;
  • Adaptable to change.

Pay, Hours and Benefits

  • In return you will be paid £14.35 per hour, working hours are up to 15 hours per week. Monday and Tuesday 8am to 3:30pm
  • There is an employer's contribution to a workplace pension.

  • Administrative: 3 years (preferred)
  • Working with students: 2 years (preferred)
