The Role:


Working for Enterprise's Director of Business Support to develop and continually improve a framework / high-performing function, that acts as an effective second line of defence against all regulatory/operational risks and issues, providing Assurance to the Enterprise EXCO and Group EXCO, that all businesses in Enterprise are compliant with their obligatory requirements.


Provide wide-ranging support in response to the ever-changing needs/demands and structure of Enterprise, leading strategic change projects/programmes, in addition to core role, as required.


Alleviate 'pain points' within the business via the development and provision of extensive enabling services, delivered by a highly flexible and responsive central Business Support team.


Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Deliver a programme of Assurance audits that are responsive to emergent risks/issues.
  • Facilitate all external audits necessary to support the obtainment/maintenance of businesscritical accreditations (e.g. ISO 14001 / 9001 /
  • Work closely with Director of Group Risk and Audit / Group Compliance / Group Audit and Auditees to ensure audits are well prepared for / followed up on; and on development of Groupwide governance controls
  • Lead the annual Letter of Assurance process to demonstrate to SSE's CEO and the Group EXCO, that Enterprise's system of internal control is robust and effective.
  • Continually improve 3tiered risk management framework, facilitating reviews of all tactical/supporting risk registers, BU risk registers and Enterprise Principal Risk Register, with relevant Owners, Leadership Teams and Enterprise EXCO
  • Ensure businesswide resilience to potential crises, with business continuity plans in place for all businesscritical assets, people and processes complemented by regular scenariobased testing
  • Ensure Enterprise's Quality Management System (QMS) delivers real value and goes well beyond the minimum requirements needed to maintain our ISO 9001 accreditation
  • Maintan compliance with the GDPR, ensuring all personal incidents are investigated within 72hours, rights requests presponded to within 1 calendar month and data protection impact assessments signed off as soon as practicable.

What do I need?

  • Extensive experience of working in the energy industry / or other highly regulated environment, undertaking large/complex projects
  • Expert in leading the development/delivery of Audit Programmes
  • Expert in planning, leading and delivering business change projects / programmes
  • Expert in facilitating / delivering workshops
  • Understanding of the 3 Lines of Defence Corporate Governance Model
  • Extensive knowledge of wider regulatory framework that SSE must comply with
  • ISO 9001: 2015 Lead Auditor qualified
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt qualified (desirable)
  • APMP / Prince 2 qualified (desirable)
