Description

Applications are invited for a 10 PA Consultant in Medical Oncology (Sarcoma, GIST and TYA) at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

CUH is a major Sarcoma Treatment Centre which hosts the national PAWS GIST Service and is actively involved in clinical trials.

CUH has one of the largest TYA (Teenage and Young Adult aged 16-24 years) centres with a purpose-built ward and a large team involved in developing TYA care.

We have an established treatment centre for intensive therapies for bone and other appropriate sarcomas and have an established Genome Diagnostic Service.

The post holder will work closely with other team members in the Sarcoma and TYA teams treating a full range of sarcomas and GIST.

This is a full-time position due to the spread of clinics and MDTs across the week and the expected number of inpatients having intensive treatments shared with other members of the team.

You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Medical Oncology or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview.

Applications are also welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

As part of our commitment to supporting the medical workforce in the part they play in delivering an excellent caring service to patients, all newly appointed Consultants attend our five-day Consultant Development programme within a year of joining the Trust.

Leadership is a key requirement of doctors' professional work and this innovative programme is designed to support Consultants to hone the leadership and management skills they need to succeed at CUH.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
