Due to the successful development of the WEC Group Training Academy, we now have an exciting news job opportunity based at our Rotherham site.


This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Welder/ Fabricator to pass on their skills to our Apprentices and help to 'Develop the Next Generation of World Class Engineers'.


Responsibilities

  • To deliver a Level 3 Plate Welder standard to the Apprentices.
- _Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement strategic plans for the department, aligning with the overall goals and objectives of the company. _
- _Work closely with the Apprenticeship Coordinator and HR to ensure a smooth onboarding process for new apprentices, addressing any issues that may arise. _
- _Provide regular reports and updates to senior management regarding the department's performance, challenges, and accomplishments._

  • Instruct and train apprentices in the use of Mag/TIG/MMA welding processes and techniques
  • Instruct and train apprentices in fabrication techniques and the use of associated machinery, and tools
  • Monitor, assess, and record the progress of each apprentice against defined criteria, mentoring them to overcome any challenges and providing feedback to HR with regards to any ongoing concerns
  • On occasions you may be required to attend and represent the company at recruitment events and build strong relationships with surrounding feeder schools.
  • You will assist with monitoring and maintaining workshop standards with respect.
  • You will need to ensure your Learners are working safely and responsibly by monitoring and auditing against health and safety legislation and company policy as set out by the Health and Safety officer, this includes but is not limited to Hand arm vibration monitoring, effective use of LEV monitoring, and COSHH adherence monitoring.
  • Other adhoc duties.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Ideally Apprentice trained with a Level 3 qualification in fabrication and welding.
  • You will be required to pass an Enhanced DBS check, of which the company will pay.
  • Ability to work effectively and use own initiative
  • Ability to lead and manage and train others to achieve desired results
  • Fully conversant with welding, fabrication and ability to read engineering drawings.

Rotherham


Working Hours
Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 4:00pm & Friday 7:30am - 12:00pm (40hrs a week)
