Description

Part time: 18 hours per week.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated House Keeper to join our paediatric team at Bradford Royal Infirmary.

Ward 30/32 has 41 inpatient beds and a 9 bedded assessment and short stay area. We have a busy clinical decisions area on the unit, where initial assessment of the child takes place. Ward 12 is the day case ward, it has 12 beds and a dedicated haematology area. We work within a friendly multi
- disciplinary team from multiple specialities and disciplines such as surgery and medicine. The environment includes a play area, sensory/physiotherapy room and school room. We also have an adolescent lounge which was designed by local young people.

Cleaning

To champion exceptional cleaning and hygiene standards on the ward.

You will be empowered to challenge bad hygiene practices at all levels of staff across the unit in order to safeguard patients.

To ensure that general and specialist medical equipment are cleaned to a high standard.

To identify problems with cleanliness and deal with them immediately. If an immediate solution cannot be achieved report to the nurse in charge.

To ensure that the ward and family areas of the unit are clean and tidy at all times.

To clean and stock the milk kitchens and monitor and record milk fridge temperatures.

To clean patient bed areas following discharge and prepare the area for the next patient.

Equipment and Maintenance

Ensure equipment is safely and appropriately stored.

To ensure defective equipment is reported and sent to the appropriate location for repairs.

Ensure all equipment is charging.

To ensure adequate stock levels to maintain safe delivery of care. Identify stock problems to the Ward management team.

Keep accurate logs of loaned out equipment and actively seek their return as soon as possible.

Assembly of sharps bins and their safe disposal following trust policy.

To prepare equipment for use by nursing/medical staff as required.
