Head of Risk - Financial Support Team Risk

As the Head of Risk for FST in the 2LoD, you'll deliver balanced risk decisions and risk oversight, ensuring good customer outcomes for CMB customers.

A key aspect of the role will be to provide leadership and coaching to a team of risk professionals within the FST team as well as supporting the Head of Risk, SME to achieve the broader SME strategy.


We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Head of Risk, FST, WCRM based in our Birmingham office.


In this role, you will:

  • You will lead and develop the oversight of Collections & Recoveries strategy for UK CMB and act as Risk Steward, ensuring compliance with regulation and internal policy, driving good customer outcomes.
  • Build and develop strong stakeholder relationships with the 1LoD Financial Support Team who execute the collections and recovery strategy set within Wholesale Risk. Broader stakeholder management with HBUK senior management as well as HSBC Group is required.
  • Manage, develop and optimize contact strategies to drive good customer outcomes and deliver efficiency to the operation.
  • Ensure the Policies reflect the changes in regulation and advances within the industry to maintain required levels of conduct and financial performance are achieved.
  • Owns the Risk requirements into Operational change programmes, including the creation of a Digital customer journey for customers in financial difficulty
  • Support Governance framework to ensure comprehensive reporting and risks are escalated appropriately
  • Ensure regulatory requirements, including Consumer Duty principles are met to deliver good customer outcomes
  • Deliver 'data led' strategies to enhance reporting requirements. This is also prevalent in identifying and mitigating risk for customers in financial difficulty.
  • Work closely with the Head of Risk, SME to read across customer treatments and strategies into other areas of risk.
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • An in-depth understanding of the regulatory environment associated with collections and recoveries activities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to deal with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience of Change management, including requirements gathering and working within a project delivery environment
  • Working knowledge of commercial banking secured and unsecured products
  • Experience of dealing with customer vulnerability and broad experience of supporting customers in financial difficulty.
The base location for this role is Birmingham / Hybrid.
