We are looking for a Finance Assistant to support our day-to-day transactions, Work experience in a Finance or similar role is a equirement.

In return, there will be the opportunity for extenal training to support your career path


Reporting to the Head of Finance and Administration and part of the support services team, you will be responsible for bookkeeping and other finance work and providing general support for running our busy office.

This role requires the ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Knowledge and experience within a finance function is a Bonus.

We are looking for an expert administrator and coordinator who is able to balance conflicting priorities and who has excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The usual place of work is Restore's office at Manzil Way, Oxford.

Key responsibilities

You will be a member of the Support Services team, which provides a finance and administration function to the organisation


Your responsibilities will include:
Finance administration

  • Shop takings: Reconciliations of shop and café takings.
  • Petty cash: To oversee the petty cash for all sites and maintain records.
  • Room bookings: Taking room bookings, entering on calendar, preparing the meeting rooms and raising invoices. To provide fobs and take deposits from outside bookers. To set up contracts and terms and conditions and ask for feedback from room bookers.
  • Banking: Paying invoices and making salary payments via ebanking. Occasional visits to the bank for paying in cash and cheque.
  • Invoicing: Maintain an invoicing schedule and raise invoices to funders and customers.
  • Credit control and supplier balances: Produce monthly reports and follow up outstanding income and payments.
  • Bookkeeping: Input of invoices, shop and cafe takings, card and invoice payments in the Sage accounting system. Carrying out monthly bank and petty cash reconciliations
  • Gift aid: Keeping gift aid records and submitting gift aid claims to HMRC
  • Records: Keeping records of transactions and preparing these for audit
General assistance

  • Orders: making orders for supplies for Restore's services
  • Reception: Dealing with visitors to Manzil Way and liaising with staff to resolve visitor's questions
  • Phone: Receiving incoming calls, taking messages and transferring calls as appropriate
  • Other: Any other duties as requested by Restore.
Essential Requirements

  • Experience of office administration
  • Bookkeeping experience including bank reconciliation
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to deal effectively, cheerfully and empathetically with members, staff, volunteers and the public both face to face and on the telephone
  • Knowledge of Google docs and/or Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Numerate with an eye for detail
  • Well organised and the ability to work to deadlines
  • Flexible approach to working with a variety of tasks
  • A creative approach to problem solving.
  • A reliable time keeper.
  • A selfstarter who can work both independently and collaboratively.
Desirable Requirements

  • Experience of working in the voluntary sector.
  • Experience of working with people with mental health problems.
  • Experience of accounting and banking software.
Restore provides Recovery Groups and a Coaching Service. Coaching provides one to one support enabling members (service users) to achieve their aims.

Restore's coaching activities focus on supporting people to achieve paid work, after a period of illness, to start volunteering or start or return to education.

Some coaches are embedded within Recovery Groups, and others work within hospital or community settings.

Recovery Groups provide members with the opportunity to work on their journey of recovery together through therapeutic activity such as gardening, woodwork, catering or craft based activities.
