The OEGEN Development team
The Development Team is focused on investment at the development stage of renewable energy projects.

Our aim is to generate a strong pipeline of future energy projects by investing in or alongside these companies, helping them grow and deliver the projects that will fuel our continued growth.


We work with a diverse range of renewable technologies, including utility-scale solar, rooftop solar, onshore wind, floating offshore wind, and storage, with projects that extend across the UK and Europe, with rapid global expansion in progress.

In the last two years alone, we have acquired stakes in or partnered with companies such as NorGen, Wind2, Simply Blue Energy, FFNEV, Zestec, Gridsource, Nexta, and Exagen.


We are a team of ten and still growing The team is focused on two main areas: acquisitions and portfolio management.

Most of our team have first-hand experience in developing renewable projects. We speak five languages and come from six nations.

**The Portfolio Management Team

The Portfolio Team, within the Development Team, is responsible for managing relationships with our new partners to deliver new project opportunities and support them in their growth.


The work is fast paced and exciting; Our team works day-to-day with senior executives in our investee companies and directors within Octopus, focusing on the delivery of proprietary deal flow and creating value in our portfolio businesses.

This role involves addressing a very broad range of issues in multiple territories and adapting to various challenges as they arise.


Role of Commercial Governance & Operations in the Portfolio Team:
In the Portfolio Team, commercial governance and operations play a crucial role in managing risk and adding value.


We simplify relationship management by ensuring that our board meetings, steering committees, and weekly catch-ups are efficient, collaborative, and compliant with our investee partners and our customers.

We prioritize stakeholder interests, including legal, environmental, and social obligations, setting high goals in these areas.

Team members are experienced in running the governance cycle, managing actions, coordinating input from multiple stakeholders, and supporting and making voting recommendations to board directors.

They excel in translating goals into KPIs and metrics and driving delivery within governance. Exceptional modeling skills are a valuable asset.


What you'll do:


  • Analyse business plans and papers to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Brief Directors with voting recommendations and support decisionmaking.
  • Ensure compliance with shareholder agreements, joint development agreements, and development services agreements.
  • Manage rights and obligations, maintaining standards compliance.
  • Coordinate governance and management cycles, ensuring efficient and compliant processes.
  • Liaise with internal operational teams for drawdown and payment approvals.
  • Oversee governance processes, ensuring effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Manage risk and actions registers, tracking progress and addressing issues.
  • Coordinate onboarding and sales processes for new investments and partners.
  • Service the fund's reporting cycle, providing accurate and timely updates.

What you'll need:


  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial governance & operations, portfolio management, or related.
  • Understanding of corporate governance and legal frameworks.
  • Strategic thinking and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with financial analysis and business plan evaluation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools for collaboration and document management.
  • You have experience running efficient governance cycles, ensuring timely and highquality board papers and reports.
  • You excel in managing actions, coordinating input from multiple stakeholders, and supporting and making voting recommendations to board directors.
  • You have expertise in making contracts work operationally, translating goals into KPIs and metrics, and driving delivery within governance.
  • You possess outstanding modelling skills (the cherry on the cake).
