Temporary until 30th March 2026, Full time, 37 hours per week.


This is an exciting opportunity to join Digital Services as an Apprentice - Digital Support Technician until March 2026 where you will gain experience working within the Business Application Support Team within the Councils Digital Services.


This team provides expertise and support to colleagues across the Council who use a range of Business Applications (Systems) within Adults and Childrens Social Care, Education, Housing, Legal and Libraries.

We work with a number of software suppliers such as SystemC (Liquidlogic), Capita, NEC, Iken and SirsiDynix which will enable you to gain experience in a number of systems, so by the time you have finished your apprenticeship you will have developed key skills which can be used to develop your career.


Typical Tasks will include:

  • Working under direction and being involved in identifying and responding to issues. This will include the logging and updating of incidents
  • Carrying out basic systems administration tasks on a database system including managing user accounts, system testing and making changes to the system to meet the needs of users
  • Assisting in the delivery of projects/activities

Essential requirements for the post are:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organisation & prioritisation skills
  • A genuine interest in IT
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety issues and able to identify risks within own area of work


Whilst in post you will complete a Digital Support Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Qualification which will enable you to maximise the effective use of digital office technologies to meet the needs of an organisation - 20% of your working hours will be dedicated to studying.
