An exciting opportunity for a Nurse Associate to join a gold standard Alcohol Care Team. You work as part of a nurse led specialist team managing patients with challenges relating to substance misuse (drugs and / or alcohol). You will be primarily responsible for health screening and promotion across patients within NUH. You will also have responsibilities for gathering patient feedback to help ensure continuing levels of excellence and continuing development.

Maintain a high level of clinical work when carrying out nursing procedures

Health screening and promotion

Advice and brief interventions on smoking, alcohol and drug use

Education and training delivery

The Alcohol Care Team has been operational since April 2021.

In that short time we have established and effective and dynamic team with strong patient values and excellent integration into NUH.A recent national peer review showed us to be a Gold Standard service.


This post would suit an enthusiastic Nursing Associate who is looking for the opportunity to support patients who face challenges with substance misuse.

We currently provide a full team service Monday - Friday and a single staff member Saturday and Sunday. Our working hours are 08:00-16:00 but can be flexible.

Training & Qualification

Essential criteria

  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
  • Completion of Foundation Degree Nursing Associate
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Understand the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in the context of the team and the organisation
  • Understand how the role contributes to service development5
Analytical and Judgement skills

Essential criteria
- ability to contribute to the assessment, planning and delivery of patient care

  • Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice
  • Ability to participate in reflective practice
Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of local and national drug and alcohol policies
