Who you'll be working for:


ABP Food Group works with a network of over 45,000 farmers and is renowned for paying its suppliers on the day of delivery at strategically located local abattoirs that minimise animal transport distances.

As a Business Administrator Apprentice at ABP, you will focus on a variety of areas to support the finance and payroll teams.

As an apprentice, you'll have the opportunity to achieve a qualification, as well as gaining hands on experience and developing your skills.


The Level 3 Data apprenticeship will develop your skills in a wide variety of areas and help you to grow your careers with ABP.


You will be responsible for:


This is a developmental role with the opportunity to expand your knowledge across a variety of department, but with a strong focus on finance.

As well as studying, you will also support the Finance department with:


  • Playing a vital role within the office team when planning production, sales and shipping schedules
  • Supporting with admin tasks which include supporting with daily production figures and all relevant information to assist with the site weekly and monthly accounts
  • Assisting sales and purchase ledger with customer orders and raising sales invoices
  • Supporting with Balance Sheet and P&L account reconciliations
  • Undertaking admin tasks relating to payroll and staff expenses
  • Holiday cover for shipping and export documentation
  • Working closely with the shipping coordinator to ensure sales, transfers and stock requirements are met and all deadlines are achieved.

You will need the following skills:

  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Excel
  • Self motivated, enthusiastic and good team working skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Entry requirements:


  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.


Working week:

40 hours per week.


Future prospects:

90% of QA apprentices secure permanent employment after completing: this is 20% higher than the national average.

QA's apprenticeships are funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), an executive agency of the Department for Education.

To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
