About the role Location:

UK Wide - Hybrid role**Balfour Beatty has an opportunity for a
HSES Advisor to join our Asset & Technology Solutions team in Derby.

You will actively engage with operations to develop and maintain a proactive approach to positive HSES management.

This role will see you providing expert support and coaching to the operational team to enable risk elimination to be embedded in our zero-harm culture and support the broader HSES agenda as required whilst ensuring governance, compliance and legal obligations are met.


This is a flexible role, which will include working from home & travelling to various sites across the UK**
What you'll be doing

  • Undertake planned inspections / tours as per Assurance Plan and prepare written reports following all site visits, inspections, audits and investigations.
  • Support local management in their liaison with clients and contractors by attending meetings and other events such as working groups.
  • Gather evidence to support investigation process and its reports, including interviewing witnesses.
  • Monitor emerging, new and revised legislation to assess its impact on the business.
  • Monitor specific environmental aspects and work in conjunction with the HSES Manager to ensure compliance with the environmental procedures to meet our ISO 14001 certification requirements.
  • Deliver training and advisory sessions to personnel and contractors.
  • Support the delivery of the Behavioural Safety Programme (Make Safety Personal).
  • Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm.
  • Promote the reporting of close calls throughout the business ensuring that actions are taken.
  • Deliver Safety Cascades informing operations of relevant safety alerts, fast facts and lessons learnt.
  • Assist the projects to deliver effective planning stages through compliance and reliability.
  • Assist in maintaining the companies Safety management system iSMS.

Who we're looking for

  • NEBOSH Certificate
  • Understanding / knowledge of the construction industry.
  • Previous experience in a health and safety advisory role.
  • Experience in delivering HSE training and in incident investigation.
  • Proven ability to influence and promote a positive safety culture.
  • Ability to develop and implement risk free environment using best work practices and innovations.
