Contract Type - TfL Permanent

Working Pattern - 35-hour fixed weekly shift patterns will be offered to cover varying times in our 24/7 team. These will include early, late, and weekend coverage.


Overview of role


This key role demands excellent attention to detail coupled with highly developed observational skills, to undertake day to day monitoring activities for the team within the Enforcement & On Street Operations Directorate.


Using your knowledge of CCTV operation and the TfL Road network, you will be tasked with identifying traffic contraventions and pro-actively supporting the Section Manager in identifying ways to improve the section in terms of accuracy, quality and efficiency.


Key Accountabilities

  • Undertake day to day monitoring activities for the Road Network Compliance team within the Enforcement and On Street Operations Directorate. This will involve monitoring video screens and identifying bus lane, parking and moving traffic offences.
  • Analyse, check and validate video data, identify and make decisions on any contraventions and initiate processes while making appropriate recommendations.
  • Validate and approve decisions for penalty notice issue or where necessary reject decisions on basis of inadequate data or for other reasons as directed by the Section Manager.
  • Work with fellow Compliance Officers to ensure a high level of quality and accuracy in identified potential contraventions.
  • Follow all TfL policy, data protection and other processes in undertaking traffic monitoring and enforcement activities and ensure an exceptionally high level of accuracy and quality.
  • Act fairly, openly and efficiently at all times when undertaking monitoring activities and work with the primary aim of increasing Road User Compliance.
  • Adhere to and meet quality assurance and other targets as set in discussions with the Section Manager.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with clear communication channels and joint processes to enable ways of working with fellow Compliance Officers and other team members or sections to ensure partnership working in order to deliver the departmental objectives.
  • Support the Section Manager by contributing to the collation and preparation of reports and other documents.
  • Willingness to work flexibly and in new areas of compliance due to the dynamic nature and development of TfL and Road Network Compliance.
  • Ad hoc duties and accountabilities as directed by the Section Manager and other senior managers as appropriate.

  • Some Knowledge of working within a legal framework; (Essential)
  • Knowledge of Road User Charging, bus lane and traffic enforcement regulations, legislative frameworks such as Scheme Orders and Traffic Management Orders and the enforcement of such schemes utilising outsourced service providers; (Desirable)
  • Recognised qualification in CCTV traffic enforcement (or willingness to work towards qualification) (Essential)

Experience

  • Experience in a similar or relevant position in a public sector environment; (Desirable)
  • Experience of working with computers, I.T systems and hardware; (Essential)
