Description

Our Global Risk function, led by the Group Chief Risk Officer, oversees a comprehensive risk management framework that is applied throughout the Group.

This responsibility includes establishing global policy, monitoring risk profiles, and identifying and managing forward-looking risk. Global Risk is made up of sub-functions covering all risks to our business.


Involvement in the Traded Risk Management across Markets and Securities Services (MSS), and engage on the Securities Financing Risk regionally from a second line perspective.

The Securities Financing business had revenues of USD 0.9bln for y/e 2021 with activities ranging from Prime Finance, Rates Repo, and Credit Repo.

The Securities Financing business has significant revenue generated in Europe, Asia, and North America and an aggressive growth plan for the coming years.


The Regional Traded Risk Securities Financing role is to ensure that trading activities are in line with Senior Management risk appetite and to ensure that Risk Management is in line with best practice.

The incumbent is also responsible for engaging with auditors and regulators as required.


We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Regional Head of Traded Risk of Securities Financing.


In this role, you will:

  • Proactively review Market Risk and Traded Credit risk of Securities Financing business regionally and challenge desk head and Regional leads as necessary.
  • Act as Traded risk decision maker Regionally for Securities Financing on New Products Due Diligence and Trade Approvals
  • Review and approve TAPs and oneoff trades Regionally.
  • Regionally responsible for setting market risk limits, and ensuring that the firms/managements market risk appetite is not exceeded within HSBC's market risk taking activity
  • Management of Traded risk positions with respect to market conditions, regardless of whether close or in excess of limits, and escalation of any identified inappropriate activity to senior management.
  • Reviewing new products and structures to identify all material market and traded credit risks and ensuring effective controls surround these to ensure appropriate risk management occurs during their life cycle.
  • Provide management with expert advice on Traded risk related regulatory and internal controls advice
  • Provision of Traded Risk management information to senior management as necessary to enable decision making with regards to positions.
  • Develop systems strategy and implementation to ensure that the Traded Risk function is able to effectively and efficiently perform its core role.
  • Ownership of IT and Securities Financing risk budgets and budgeting process.
  • Roll out Global standards in regulatory projects e.g. ICR (Illiquid and Concentrated Risks), EBA/PRA Stress Testing, FRTB, IBOR etc
  • Monitor and control credit contingent market risk and traded credit risk for the Securities Financing business
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Good knowledge of vanilla and complex derivative markets products and relevant traded markets.
  • Has developed a high level of professional competence which helps to determine solutions around appropriate risk measures, risk processes, risk monitoring and management
The base location for this role is London, Canada Square. Hybrid role, 2/3 days in the office.
