Purpose
The role of Craftsperson (Overhead Lines) sits within SP Transmission Network Operations, reporting to the Team Leader (OHL).

In this role, you will carry out all aspects of transmission overhead line work including inspection, maintenance, fault repair and limited construction work.


What you'll be doing
As Craftsperson (Overhead Lines) you will be expected to contribute as an effective member of the Overhead Line Refurbishment team, carrying out job instructions in a timely, efficient and safe manner

You will record and updates asset inspection system with accurate and quality information

You will supervise contractors on tower construction and maintenance work and undertake all tower maintenance works and defect repairs required - striving to eliminate customer complaints as an on-site representative of the company

Carries out line inspections post fault and various conductor repair techniques on the system, as required.

Assist in fault repairs on the transmission system as directed and undertakes repairs to tower furniture e.g. aircraft warning lights, step bolts


What you'll bring
Understanding of materials, equipment and techniques associated with Transmission conductor repairs and an ability to demonstrate an understanding of construction and maintenance techniques for Transmission Overhead line refurbishment

Demonstrate an understanding of safe systems and be proactive in driving them whilst undertaking principles and techniques for lifting, rigging and slinging

Hold Scottish Power, National Grid or other REC's system authorisations

Ability to work at all heights on all structure types associated with OHL work and knowledge of signing and guarding standards for transmission overhead lines


Minimum Requirements

  • Proven track record in the transmission OHL industry
  • Evidence of system authorisations held
  • Proven track record in all aspects of slinging, rigging and OHL repairs and maintenance
  • Min 5 years industry experience
  • Hold a current drivers licence
