Roshni we support Black and Minoritised victims/survivors affected by domestic abuse including Forced Marriage and Honour Based Abuse.

Set up in 1979, Roshni Birmingham is a leading provider supporting Black and Minoritised communities through their journey to safety, confidence, and independence to live free from violence, abuse and fear.

An Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) Certificate will be required for all roles.


Job Purpose

  • Provide comprehensive practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic violence and abuse (DVA), including forced marriage, honourbased abuse and female genital mutilation
  • Offer crisis intervention support through facetoface meetings and telephone contact.

Key Responsibilities

  • As part of a team, provide highquality direct casework management, advice, information and advocacy support to DVA survivors through regular inperson and phone interactions.
  • Manage an individual caseload in accordance with all organisational policies and procedures.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments using the DASH tool, regularly reviewing and updating risk levels.
  • Develop and implement tailored support plans focused on reducing risks of harm, increasing personal safety of survivors and their children, and addressing individual needs.
  • Support survivors in identifying and managing risks to themselves and their children.
  • Provide detailed information on options related to housing, legal rights, welfare benefits, etc.
  • Focus on preventing future homelessness where applicable.
  • Assist survivors in accessing relevant services, benefits, and accompany them to appointments to advocate on their behalf.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies, make referrals to specialist services (eg mental health, MARAC) based on needs.
  • Attend and represent survivors at multiagency meetings.
  • Participate in the oncall rota to provide outofhours support for emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate client records using database, produce data/reports as required.
  • Contribute to monitoring and evaluating the service.
  • Escalate any safeguarding concerns about children or vulnerable adults immediately.
  • Support service users in integrating within their local community for independent living.

Requirements:


  • Good standard of education, NVQ Level 3 or higher qualification in Health and Social Care preferred.
  • Accredited training in domestic violence such as Women's Aid CAVA, AVA, CAADA/ISVA/IDVA.
  • Proven experience providing support to domestic abuse victims, or transferable skills.
  • Strong understanding of DVA issues, options and rights for survivors.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities and ability to conduct risk/safety assessments.
  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals, disabilities, mental health, substance abuse.
  • Specific experience in outreach/communitybased support work.
  • Indepth knowledge of legislation related to DVA, welfare benefits, housing rights, criminal/civil proceedings.
  • Familiarity with cultural issues affecting minoritised communities like forced marriage, FGM, immigration.
  • Ability to build supportive relationships while maintaining boundaries.
  • Nonjudgmental, empowering approach to understand individualised needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Active listening capabilities to effectively communicate with survivors.
  • Capacity to work under pressure, multitask and prioritise workload.
  • Committed to antidiscriminatory, traumainformed practice.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and electronic case management systems.
  • Valid UK driver's license and access to personal vehicle for work travel.
  • Fluency in at least one South Asian language specified in job posting.
  • Experience managing financial records and transactions.


The role involves providing comprehensive, culturally-sensitive, survivor-centred support through practical assistance, advocacy, safety planning and community integration while ensuring confidentiality.


Salary:
£23,000.00-£24,000.00 per year
