Job overview:


The Health Visitor Team Leader is responsible for the day-to-day management and co-ordination of a team of Health Visitors and skill mix staff, within a defined neighbourhood.

They will lead a team delivering safe, effective, evidence based high quality care, in a variety of community settings, in partnership with parents/carers, GPs and other education, voluntary, health and social care partners.


Main duties of the job:


The Health visitor Team Leader will support the Service Managers to ensure the Health Visiting Service within their defined neighbourhood meet key organisational targets and deliver local and national priorities.

They will act as an outstanding role model for delivering client centred professional care, emphasising the importance of performance, professionalism, and accountability in caring for self and others.

Essential Qualifications:


Essential criteria:


  • Registered Specialist Community Health Public Nurse (SCPHN)
  • Registered Nurse or Midwife on Part 1 of the NMC register
  • Evidence of postregistration development relevant to the post

Desirable criteria:


  • Management experience/ qualification

Knowledge and skills:


Essential criteria:


  • Knowledge of the commissioning agenda, KPIs and service specifications and their relevance to community nursing
  • Evidence of leadership skills.
  • Evidence of postregistration development relevant to the post
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload for self and team.

  • Teaching and assessing experience
