Description
We have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional individual to join our
maternity team at East Cheshire NHS Trust, as an advisor for treating tobacco dependence.


The Individual appointed to this role will needs to be able to motivate, inspire and support those for who Tobacco dependency impacts their health and wellbeing, and that of their family.


This role will involve working within all areas of our maternity service, and coordinating smoking cessation support to those who are pregnant.

A range of interventions will be used such as Carbon Monoxide Monitoring,
behavioural support and directly advising and supplying Nicotine
Replacement Therapy after appropriate training. The post holder will

require excellent people skills, the ability to support and motivate others, be able to manage their own workload and work well within a team.

Experience of working in a health promotion setting is advantageous.

East Cheshire NHS Trust is committed to the NHS England Saving Babies
Care Bundle V3 and reducing smoking in women who are pregnant is a key
element of this


Hours per week: 18.75

  • Deliver treating tobacco dependency advice through assessments,
individualised care plans and behavioural support. This will include
support sessions including advice on stop smoking medications and
working within recommended protocols and guidelines.

  • Develop individually tailored support plans including recommending
treatments based on assessed needs.

  • Provide general health lifestyle advice and support to people using
the service. Participate in educating pregnant women and birthing
people about the benefits of stopping smoking in pregnancy and give
support to those wanting to quit.

  • Promote smoke free homes and support and advise about passive smoking.
  • Deliver Carbon Monoxide (CO) monitoring to a high standard and
engage in the data collection and collation of CO rates in pregnancy
and post-partum.

  • Maintain accurate, up to date and comprehensive records.
  • Respond effectively to referrals within stated timescales. This
includes self-referrals from individuals, and those from colleagues
and others within the maternity team.

  • Be involved in the monitoring and evaluation of client feedback,
offering recommendations as part of the team to improve service
user experience.

  • Ensure responsibility for personal development and keeping up to
date with appropriate changes and developments affecting the
service

  • Attend mandatory training and study session as required. Offer
views and suggestions in relation to service and procedure changes
to support the values and objectives.


If you have lived or worked abroad for 6 months or more in the last 5 years you will need to obtain an overseas police clearance.
