Location - Derby, Midlands (Site Based)
An exciting opportunity for a General Foreman to join an established business unit dedicated to working on a variety of rail infrastructure building and civil engineering projects.
Business Unit
A busy and fast paced business unit involved in a range of civil engineering works associated with Network rail infrastructure such as various bridge refurbishment and renewals, embankments, stations etc.
The business unit are involved in multi-disciplinary rail civils projects up and down the CP6 LNE route ranging in scale and value but often complex and technically challenging.
Existing contracts in the CP6 infrastructure projects framework/contract includes schemes such as bridge re-construction/replacement, upgrades and refurbishments, station work (platforms, access for all and footbridge installations), platform re-gauging / platform extensions etc.
The Role
We are looking to recruit an experienced General Foreman to work within the rail buildings and AFA's (Access for All) team.
The General Foreman is to ensure the site team are fully appraised of the contract requirements and have the capability and resources necessary to achieve the successful delivery.
Day to day responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the Health, Safety and Welfare of employees and others under their direct control through compliance with the requirements of the Supervisors Health and Safety Responsibility Statement
- Ensuring that all company and client Health &Safety and Environmental initiatives are effectively implemented
- The reporting of any unsafe practices
- The promotion of a continuous improvement culture and the use of best practice.
- The effective leadership, supervision, utilisation and monitoring of Direct and Subcontract Labour Force
- Delivery of works within programme and to budget, ensuring that the works are executed in accordance with the requirements of:
- All applicable legislation
- The Terms and Conditions of the contract
- The Contract Health and Safety Plan
- The Contract Quality / Environmental Plan
- The Network Rail approved Works Package Plans and Task Briefing Sheets
- The approved Construction Drawings and Specification
- The Policies and Procedures contained within the Company Business Management System
- Ensuring that Quality standards are achieved and are 'right first time'
- The continuous monitoring of the progress of the works to ensure contract objectives are being met
- Ensuring that, changes to the scope of works are identified, agreed, implemented and effectively managed
- Ensuring that robust records are maintained i.e. diaries, allocation sheets, plant etc.
- The provision of formal reports on progress to the Project Manager/Site Agent
- Ensuring that all relevant issues, which cannot be resolved at site level, are passed for the attention of the Project Manager / Site Agent
- The identification and implementation of training needs for directly employed operatives employees under their control.
Requirements:
To excel in this role, you will have previous experience as a General Foreman in a rail and civil engineering environment, ideally with bridge reconstruction project experience.
- PTS
- SSSTS / SMSTS
- Experience as a General Foreman in a civils contracting environment.
- Experience in rail working on civil engineering associated projects
- Experience in rail working on projects associated with civil engineering i.e. bridges, platforms, stations etc.
