Day / Night Direct Support Worker - Tudor Lodge

Salary:
£10.75 per hour


42 hours per week averaged over 2 weeks

3 shifts /4 shifts rota

Tudor Lodge is currently looking to recruit Day and Night Direct Support Workers to match the demand of the growth of the business.
Tudor Lodge is a residential home specialising in Mental Health Care, located in Douglas, Isle of Man. Our professional and friendly team is continuing providing high-quality care and support for all people we support.

Direct Support Worker Role Overview:


As a Direct Support Worker at Tudor Lodge you will be responsible for the wellbeing of the residents, in a caring, kind, and respectful manner, preserving dignity and self-respect at all times, under the supervision of the Home Manager and/or the Deputy Manager.


All staff should bear in mind the overall objectives of the care home, namely that residents will be encouraged to maintain independence and choice in a homely environment which promotes excellent customer relationships.

Requirements of a Direct Support Worker:

Your duties will also include:

  • To provide the highest standards of holistic personcentred care and attention for the residents.
  • To participate fully in the overall care of the residents as per care plan.
  • To assist with washing, dressing, toileting, and personal care as per care plan.
  • To provide support to other staff.
  • To assist in maintaining safe levels of care assuring safe practice by supervising care assistants.
  • To carry out basic housekeeping/cooking tasks to enable residents live in a clean environment.
  • To help provide essential physical and mental stimulation by participating in recreational and social activities with residents individually, or in a group.
  • To assist in maintaining accurate records in accordance with registration and legal requirements.
  • To carry out instructions by senior staff in an efficient and conscientious manner.
  • To carry out procedures as instructed by the Home Manager and/or Deputy Manager.
  • To attend staff training, staff meetings and mandatory training.
  • To report any accidents relating to staff and/or residents as per procedures.
  • To ensure the company policy on confidentiality is upheld.
  • To comply with written and verbally agreed conditions of employment, e.g. hours of duty, uniform, time keeping etc.
  • To be respectful and courteous when dealing with colleagues, relatives, and other public and professional people, and so promoting company ethos.
  • To be prepared to undertake any aspects of care or noncaring duties requested by Home Manager and/or Deputy Manager.
  • To assist and facilitate in the welcoming and training of new staff members.
  • To help with the induction of probationary care assistants.
  • To be aware of personal limitations.
  • To assist in the maintenance of safe and healthy working environment by ensuring adherence to Pearl Healthcare Health and Safety and Welfare policies and procedures.
  • To be responsible for safe administration of medication in accordance with company policy.
  • To report to the Home Manager bad care practice or harm to a resident within the care home.
  • To contribute to staff supervision and identify training needs to meet Investor in People programme.
  • To carry out any other duties one could reasonably be expected to do when requested by the Home Manager and/or Deputy Manager.

COVID-19 Precautions:


Safety is paramount to us all, we support all our staff and the people we support to stay safe by wearing the correct PPE.

Staff are issued with aprons, gloves, and facemasks to wear during personal care. We have temperature screening for all staff and visitors. All our staff are required to take regular LFT COVID tests twice weekly. We have a housekeeping team that ensures the service to kept clean to the highest standards of IPC.
