Description
We are looking for an experienced Technical Author/ Writer to join our rapidly expanding team in Edinburgh.

Your ability to evaluate and analyse complex information is second to none, and you have a natural desire to help people understand things that are hard to understand; present the simplicity on the other side of complexity.

Who we are
Enoda was founded to revolutionise electricity distribution technology.

Our mission is to deliver a balanced electricity system with our range of novel integrated hardware and software products and services, which enable a full platform for the energy transition to net zero.

Energy is the primary input to everything we do. Our continued prosperity is dependent on reliable, affordable - and now clean - electricity. Balancing the ongoing tension between reliable, affordable, and clean electricity is what Enoda seek to achieve.

To address the key hurdles to net zero, Enoda brings together a combination of sophisticated control and hardware designs with its Prime technology and HERA industrial installations, providing an end-to-end solution for grid stability, and the decarbonisation of combined heat and power (CHP) at the lowest marginal economic, environmental, and social cost.

You'll spend your time

  • Developing comprehensive documentation that meets organisational standards
  • Obtaining a deep understanding of products and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content
  • Writing userfriendly content that meets the needs of the target audience, turning insights into language that sets our users up for success
  • Developing and maintaining detailed databases of appropriate reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications
  • Evaluating current content and developing innovative approaches for improvement
  • Researching, outlining, writing, and editing new and existing content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements
  • Working with development and support leads to identify all documentation repositories, revising and editing, and determine the best solution for data compilation and centralised storage
  • Researching, creating, and maintaining information architecture templates that uphold organisational and legal standards, allowing for easy data migration
  • Developing content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation

Requirements:

The key experience we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in field of electrical, mechanical, or power engineering
  • 24 years' industry experience as an effective technical writer
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics
  • Previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Experience working with engineering to improve user experience: design, UI, and help refine content and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, with an eye for prioritisation
  • Firm understanding of the systems development life cycle (SDLC) and scientific method

A strong understanding of energy, electricity, and the energy transition would be highly advantageous, as would certification through the Society for Technical Communicators.

We would love to speak with people who are open-minded and rational thinkers, able to demonstrate a strong sense of personal accountability and reliability from their previous roles.
