The Study is situated on two sites - Reception to Year 3 at Wilberforce House and Years 4 to 6 at Spencer House.
The Teachers' Assistant may be required to work with any year groups.Job Purpose
To assist the teaching staff in the delivery of the curriculum and in the pastoral care of the pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
General Duties
- To act as a resource - create teaching aids and displays, photocopy, find information etc.
- To give administrative and practical support to teachers
- To assist in the day to day school routines, including playground, lunch duties and accompanying minibus/swimming/games runs
- To accompany and assist on outings
- To attend and contribute to Whole School and House Staff Briefing meetings (Whole School meetings are currently held on Tuesdays at 4.00 p.m.)
- To attend all Whole School INSET days and occasional 'twilight' training sessions. To be available and on site for the 5 days start of the autumn term and as required for the beginning of the Spring and Summer Terms.
- To attend and make a positive contribution to the annual Open Morning in October and other evening school events as required.
- To play a full part in the life of The Study, and to assist and support with school functions such as plays and trips.
- To play a full part in the pastoral life of the Study.
- To work with small groups of pupils
- To work alongside teachers in the classroom
- To work with pupils on a one-to-one basis e.g. listening to pupils read
- Lead guided reading sessions
- To assist teachers in preparing class/group activities
- To cover for teacher absence as required
The person appointed will be expected:
- To be eligible to work in the UK
- To hold a NVQ Level 3 qualification. A HLTA qualification is desirable.
- To be able to carry out daily tasks without direct supervision
- To adopt a friendly, professional, approachable manner with colleagues, pupils and parents
- To maintain the confidentiality of colleagues, pupils and parents
