The Trust is now engaged in an ambitious programme of developments leading to its vision of a paper light hospital.

As part of this strategy the Trust is in the process of developing its ICT resources to maintain and develop new ICT systems to meet the ever changing demands of hospital services.


The HOCS will be a key member of the Trusts ICT senior leadership team providing support to the Deputy Director of IT(DDIT) in managing the delivery of the Trusts new Electronic Health Record system, associated sub systems and related support services across the Trust.


The function of the HOCS is to ensure that these systems are effectively managed, developed and maintained to meet the current and future requirements of business and clinical users.


This role provides ICT senior management and leadership across the organisation of approximately users at Princess Alexandra Hospital, associated sites, and authorised third parties.

The Post Holder will be responsible for working closely with the Clinical Safety Officers to manage all clinical risks relating to new system delivery's to the trust and


The post holder will ensure that issues related to the EHR systems are comprehensively and effectively addressed through proactive service management of any internal or external service providers.

They will also represent PAHT on health economy wide ICT fora and issues, as required.


They will work with clinicians and managers to identify opportunities to use ICT and business intelligence to drive innovation and improvements in service provision, clinical outcomes and business efficiency.


  • This role is responsible for the delivery and management of business solutions for the Princess Alexandra business/ clinical IT systems reporting to the DDIT.
  • The postholder will be responsible for the formulation and delivery of system software solutions and system process improvements based on clinical and nonclinical requirements.
  • For service improvements working closely with the Application Support Team, within the IT department, Third party suppliers & Princess clinical and nonclinical staff.
  • The postholder will be responsible for defining all associated benefits relating to Business solutions.
  • The postholder will be required to fully engage with staff to ensure service improvements being delivered, meet the requirements of the user base.
  • This role will be responsible for Release Management for Service Packs & Hot Fixes to business/clinical system.
  • Responsible for engaging with the business to ensure requirements are met and the optimisation of any system fits into the Trust strategy.
  • The Post holder will also be the release manager for the EHR solution and other high priority systems
