The starting salary for this role is £14,512 per annum (pro rata to £35,382 FTE), working 14.4 hours per week.
This is an extremely exciting time to join the Active Surrey team. We are now into our journey of Surrey's 10-year physical activity strategy, Movement for Change.

You will support in delivering the aims of the strategy with a particular focus on prevention,in relation to adopting a healthy lifestyle, in particular for people experiencing poor mental health.

Reporting to the Head of Active Communities, this role will be part of the dynamic and supportive Active Communities Team and will also work closely with local and national partners including Public Health, National Governing Bodies of Sport, boroughs anddistricts, and the Active Partnerships network.


You will support Surrey County Council's approach to building capacity through developing training, that takes a community-based approach, targeted towards men in particular.

The purpose of the role will be to support the mental health and wellbeing of menin Surrey, improve links between physical and mental health and build capacity by engaging with priority groups and delivering training, in particular Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Aware.


  • Proven expertise and experience in successfully working with men/male target groups and knowledge of effective approaches to addressing stigma when discussing mental health with this group
  • Knowledge and experience of working in the area of mental health/wellbeing, and/or lived experience
  • Project management skills: proven ability to design, implement and delegate actions as appropriate, and monitor and evaluate projects
  • Motivated, able to lead a topic, use initiative and work fairly independently to deliver outcomes and implement workable solutions
  • Partnership working and people skills: proven ability to establish and maintain good relationships with a range of stakeholders
