Description

Whoever is appointed will need to:

  • Supervise the medical room and ensure the students are treated according to their medical needs
  • To be the first point of contact for students, staff or anyone else onsite who needs medical attention during the school day and take responsibility for medical and first aid issues that arise.
  • To manage a secure medical area and ensure the welfare room is kept organised, safe and secure
  • Manage medications held in school store securely, keep records up to date, monitor expiry dates and request replacements as required. Administering prescription medication when required.
  • Ensure the school is provided with Individual Health Care Plans (IHCP) and keep accurate records of these
  • Ensure the accident report logbook and forms are properly completed and completing accident reports in line with RIDDOR regulations including records of hazardous materials usage
  • Liaise with parents/carers as and when necessary regarding the welfare of students
  • Provide medical related information and medication to staff undertaking educational visits
  • Take messages from parents concerning their child's welfare and where necessary, pass on the information to relevant staff/outside agencies quickly and accurately
  • Liaise with various outside agencies including the School Nurse/Health team, CAMHS and hospitals and other health care professionals
  • Manage the vaccination programme of students in conjunction with the school nursing team
  • Assist with the organisation of medical inspections, vaccinations, and other health and welfare routines
  • Be fully aware of and keep up to date with Health and Safety regulations and the school's internal policies
  • Manage staff H&S training needs to ensure certifications are up to date, booking courses with suppliers as required
  • Regularly check and maintain the first aid boxes and equipment located in the medical room and in school/minibus
  • Restock first aid materials as required
  • Maintain confidential records and gather data as required for accident/injury reporting including to the governing body
  • Keep uptodate with all school routines and procedures, including safeguarding
  • Provide administrative support as required
  • Deal with enquiries in a helpful and supportive manner
  • Undertake training in line with the requirements of the role to include first aid and manual handling
  • Carry out other duties as required by the Headteacher, Senior staff or Office manager commensurate with the post

£17,044.00 per year
