Role Overview
The opportunity has arisen for a motivated and driven valuation surveyor to join our successful, expanding Chelmsford Valuation team.

Sitting within a wider Development department, this is a well-established team experienced at providing 'Red Book' valuationson development and residential properties for a range of purposes and a variety of clients including banks, landowners, private individuals, housing associations and the public sector.


The role will involve working across the Savills wider business including the Development division, Planning, Residential Development Sales and Residential Capital Markets.

This role will play a vital role in the growth of the business and It is key thatthis person will have a strong interest in growing the business and seeking new opportunities, including managing existing client relationships, targeting new business and building a professional network.


We are looking for someone who has the capability to manage a varied workload, who is confident, commercially focused and enjoys engaging with clients and colleagues.

The role offers the opportunity to work in the busy Development team, supporting the Director and Associate Surveyor responsible for the Valuation business.

The role is based in Chelmsford and generally covers an area of up to an hour from the office.

Itis part of the wider Chelmsford Development team of 14; with 2 Directors, 2 Associate Directors, 8 at Graduate to Associate grade and 2 administrators.

The role is based in the Savills Chelmsford office which is shared with 5 other departments.


Key Responsibilities of the Role


The role will be to assist the Chelmsford Development Valuation team concentrating on valuation work, focusing on residential investment and development assets across the Eastern region.


The key activities for this role include:

  • Preparing Red Book valuation reports
  • development, commercial and residential
  • Undertaking development appraisals in a valuation and consultancy capacity
  • Undertaking measurements/property inspections
  • Writing reports
  • Managing projects, liaising with and reporting to clients

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Technical experience

  • MRICS & RICS Registered Valuer
  • Experience in dealing with development, commercial and/or residential property
  • Numerate and technically competent
  • Excellent IT, problem solving, analytical, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Argus Developer & Enterprise Software
  • Full, clean driving licence
Skills and Knowledge

  • Previous experience working in the property sector either client facing or in an advisory role
  • Articulate, professional and persuasive with a good telephone manner
  • Strong verbal, numerical and report writing skills
  • Show the ability to retain information and follow up on all leads
  • Ability to work closely with colleagues and third parties
  • Show the ability to cross sell other services within Savills
  • Be confident to meet, present to, negotiate against and socialise with a wide range of banks, investors, professional advisors etc.
  • Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team
  • Be adaptable and keen, hardworking and enthusiastic
  • Well organised with good initiative
  • Strategic approach to problem solving
  • Drive and determination to succeed
  • Genuine interest in property inquisitive mind
  • Ability to manage several projects at once organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Strong knowledge of industry news and market developments
  • Highly motivated, displaying energy, drive and commitment
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy of work
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Computer literate, including Excel and financial modelling skills
