Description

Our client is an Investors in People Gold accredited organisation and they are currently recruiting for a Finance Manager on a permanent basis.


The position is due to start from June onwards on a full-time basis and the salary on offer is paying up to £55,000 per annum based on experience, with additional benefits.


Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Responsible for a team of four staff including two Assistant Accountants, an Income Accountant and a Financial (Capital) Accountant, providing training where necessary to ensure that staff can meet the objectives of the team
  • Oversee the financial accounts of the Group including its subsidiaries by maintaining financial accounting records and producing annual statutory accounts both for individual entities and for the consolidated Group
  • Monitor the income and expenditure for the Group to ensure adherence to the plan, and to report on variances against that plan, including capital expenditure
  • Hold overall responsibility for the management of the balance sheet for the parent company, including monthly reconciliation of all codes
  • Manage the capital accounting activities for the Group and the Joint Ventures, ensuring balance sheet values are monitored and adjusted accordingly and high level reporting on all movements throughout the financial year
  • Assist the Income Accountant to manage the service charge function for the parent company, including the provision of estimated and actual charges, and reconciliations ensuring maximum recovery of costs incurred
  • Work in partnership with the Treasury function to monitor the cashflow for the Group
  • Lead on the annual statutory audit of the Group, assisting with the creation and submission of quarterly VAT returns and compliance with any internal audits where appropriate
  • Assist the Assistant Director Finance in developing financial strategies when needed, particularly for crossservice and crossorganisation functions

Experience/skills required:


  • Partqualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/CIPFA)
  • Experience within the Social Housing sector
  • Knowledge of applicable VAT treatment for all transactions
  • Experience of Open Accounts, Orchard or iTrent, as well as Excel intermediate
  • Preparation of statutory and consolidated accounts
  • Experience of managing and developing staff
  • Presentation of complex financial information to senior management and stakeholders
  • Knowledge of interpreting accounting legislation and guidelines
