Description
We are working with Warrington Council to find a Public Health Consultant on a temporary basis.

Length of role:
Initial 3 months with chance of extending

This is a full-time position with a requirement to be in the office twice a week.


The role:


Working with the Warrington public health team to lead on the primary prevention of long-term conditions in adults, you would contribute to improving health by overseeing knowledge and intelligence work and contributing to commissioning and prevention plans.


You will work closely with the other senior members of the public health team and will work with the local place-based board, which is part of the Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board.


Key duties:


  • Support the Director of Public Health in her work of the Health and Wellbeing Board.
  • Contribute to directorate wellbeing programmes and provide leadership for primary prevention activities.
  • Provide leadership to the knowledge and intelligence team to ensure the production and distribution of actionable insight for the ICS and other key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide public health leadership for the data side of the ICS population health management (PHM) programme.
  • Oversee the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment process on behalf of the Warrington Partnership and the Health and Wellbeing Board.

Experiences and knowledge required:


  • Inclusion in the GMC Full and Specialist Register with a license to practice or Inclusion in the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) is preferable
  • In depth understanding of the health and care system and the relationships with both local national government
  • In depth knowledge of methods of developing clinical quality assurance, quality improvement, evaluations and evidence based public health practice.
  • Strong and demonstrable understanding of interfaces between health, social care and key partners (dealing with wider determinants of health)
