Working collaboratively with all professional leads and managerial staff in the maternity leadership team, provide effective professional leadership, acting as a role model for all staff within maternity services by being visible, supportive and accessible.

Lead by example in terms of leadership behaviour and effectiveness and ensuring that the vision within the NHS People Plan (August 2020) for compassionate and Inclusive leadership and a civility culture is applied and embedded within maternity services.

Contribute to and promote a culture that values all staff recognising and acknowledging achievement and success whilst positively addressing poor performance Provide leading edge thinking, advice and challenge to leaders on maternity service issues.


Work in close collaboration with others to ensure that interventions are integral and linked to all other activities within the Programme to achieve a holistic approach that drives delivery and change.

Support team-working within the Programme by ensuring that individual effort is coordinated with other team members to meet overall team goals.

Influence and support change in organisational behaviours. Consistently and effectively build trusting relationships with individual leaders and teams.

Work closely with key stakeholders (across NUH and partners).

Facilitate and negotiate change and support with implementing new ways of working where necessary to improve the safety and reliability of systems and processes for care.

Ability to reconcile professional differences of opinion or judgements on complex clinical issues. Working collaboratively, support the planning, development, provision and review of excellent, patient centred, safe and integrated pathways of care.

Provide strategic assurance and oversight of ongoing programme progress with an ability to identify, monitor and address delivery risks.
