We are looking for a great colleague to learn and undertake a new technology within our industry. This role is primarily focused on being an operative on a production line that has been newly installed. We are looking for someone enthusiastic for a challenge with an eye for detail.

The new technology is focused on the removal of peat and switching to peat-free media types. As this is new technology a lot has to be learned and adapted throughout its development.

Working alongside a small team you will be given training on the machine and learn the basics of what we are trying to achieve with the technology.

General nursery work will fill in the gaps between production days. These jobs can vary from basic cleaning of work areas to basic maintenance etc. A forklift licence is not required but would be useful for General Nursery work.

Hillgate Nurseries is one of the largest UK Salad Nurseries. Focused on Plant Propagation and production of plants for transplanting. Our primary crops are Leafy salads, Celery, and leeks.

Efficiency and automation are at the forefront and are always looking to innovate the sector where possible.

This is a full time job but includes longer seasonal working hours from February to August.

• Seasonal Work days are Monday to Friday and will include the occasional Saturday mornings.
• Work hours in our busy season 5 am to 2.30pm approx. Out of season 7 am to 3.30pm. Saturday is 6 am11 am approx.
• Out of season, 39 hours Monday to Friday.
• Across the winter months, you would perform general maintenance duties such as gardening, repairing pallets, washing the glass, digging out rails and painting.

- £12.17 p/h for 39 hours, Overtime rate is £16.50.
