About Our Client:

The client is a Public Sector and Government organisation based in Birmingham.

The key responsibilities of the Assistant Procurement Officer are:

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with the Procurement Team, and key internal and external stakeholders, to deliver the organisation's priorities and objectives.
  • Maintain and monitor delivery of procurement's within the Procurement Tracker and support the Procurement team in the production and reports around the performance of said procurement's.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust procurement processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Manage the procurement portfolio for allocated support areas, specifically on infrastructure and corporate services categories.

The Successful Applicant:


The successful Assistant Procurement Officer will:

  • Purchasing/Procurement processes experience is essential; leading purchasing processes and supporting tender processes, formulating Invitation to Tender documentation, evaluating tender responses, undertaking bid conditioning and bid clarification, debriefing of suppliers, awarding contracts, managing supplier relationships etc.
  • Experience of engaging and managing stakeholders to achieve agreed goals.
  • Ability to build credibility with stakeholders and obtain their "buyin" to new processes, procedures, governance and systems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present information.
  • Effective time and workload management skills, adhering to tight deadlines, and managing multiple priorities under pressure.

  • £17-£20 an hour (equal to £34,000-£39,000 a year)
  • Birmingham location
